At Carpet & Furniture Supplies we have been selling soft leather upholstery since it first became popular in the late 80’s. All our leather furniture features the same sort of build quality as our fabric upholstery.

We sell leather upholstery sourced from some of the best British and Italian furniture makers.

All the leather furniture we sell feature full hides, this guarantees a high quality product with many years of use ahead of it. Many of the cheaper chinese leather advertised today feature what are know as split hides. This is a cows hide that has been split to produce two hides. Split hides are of course much thinner than a proper full hide and this means that not only does the feel of the leather suffer, but the split hide can wear out in less than half the time of a proper full hide.

All the hides used on our furniture are coloured using the traditional ‘tanning’ method which involves dying the leather to the colour required. This is the best way of colouring leather as it means the colour is all the way through the leather from the surface to the back and this means the colour cannot be worn off the leather through use. Again, many of the chinese leather sold in the national stores don’t feature this and use a spray colour method that only colours the surface of the leather. This can be worn away through use.
